What makes a Minecraft account valuable?

Three things decide the value: the capes, the name and, above 6 capes, the collection. Every licensed Java account starts at $5–14, and most accounts are worth about that.

What is a plain account worth?

$5–14, typically $9. It is the one price that sales prove: 8 listings of large sellers show 81,114 accounts sold (our survey of 2 October 2026). Everything else is added on top of it.

Which capes add value?

Mass capes add little: Migrator $1–2. A few are clearly above that, like Founder's with $15–25. Event capes with a few thousand owners are what makes an account expensive.

The owner count does not set the price: Founder's has more owners than some cheaper capes and still sells for more. All 49 capes.

How much does the name add?

  • A very common short word like Stone: $2,000–12,000
  • A common word like Harbor: $450–2,300
  • Three pronounceable letters like Zor: $230–750
  • An everyday handle: $0–2

Does a big cape collection count?

Yes, above 6 fully counting capes: the value of the common capes then grows, up to ×3. Free capes do not count, code capes count a quarter, and the factor grows smoothly, so stacking cheap capes does not pay.

Do account age, Hypixel rank or stats count?

No. Ranks, statistics and cosmetics on servers cannot be seen from outside, and we cannot see when an account was created. Old accounts do not sell for more either: one large seller prices accounts from 2010 to 2015 at $13–14, the same as its undated ones. What does not count.
